As there are
many different kinds of computers, there are also various different types of Operating Systems. Ideally, one would like to have the best one for
his/her computer, but first, there is strong controversy over which ones are
best and. second, not all computers can bear all the operating systems. Hence what you
finally do is look for a compromise: you must select among the systems that your machine can support that one that better suits your needs. As we
shall see there are systems tailored for many different tasks, and depending on which kind of
task one wishes to accomplish, the selection may differ strongly. It depends upon the hardware, software and the purpose of use. The operating system supplier and the user of
OS will need to consider these factors:
1) The hardware
provision (provided) and basic design of the computer.
2) The
application intended for the computer.
3) The method of
communication with the computer, e.g. many or few peripherals.
4) The method of operating the computer.
4) The method of operating the computer.
